this is for a friend of mine; once an an angel, now in darkness. |
Through angel eyes, she viewed the world Her laughter echoing across the sea And through her lips, an enchanting song This goddess of summer and autumn leaves. Through the silver of the coldest night The sky weeps as she crumbles in shadow’s grief Reaching out to the stars, breath stolen away By the storm as it captures a goddess most bright. Their hearts are now breaking; come back to us now! How is winter to sparkle without joy in your eyes? The dance of warm silence, your skin all aglow Like an artist with music, adding red to the sky? Through darkened eyes, she viewed the world Her laughter empty against cavernous rocks Her words, do they echo? Does enchantment prevail? Does this goddess remember the hearts she had sought? The ocean is rising, a faraway cry Dreams fall and, crashing, call out to the wind The darkness is silent in its reverent thoughts But she hears it and smiles…softly she sings. Winter chill is breaking with the strength of her song This goddess, this angel, her feet hasten to dance Roses blooming in fullness of silver-lined wings And the sky blazes violet in her finishing stance. |
