I was present as an elderly man held the hand of his wife as she died aged 87.
Amazing face
How sweet the look,
I gaze in awe at you.
You once were so shy,
Now about to die,
And I must say adieu.

Amazing eyes
How deep their pools.
I fall in love with you,
Each time that I see,
That look just for me,
And I must say adieu.

Amazing nose
With upturned tip,
Pert and pretty are you.
We would rub noses,
You'd smell my roses,
And I must say adieu.

Amazing lips
How soft their touch.
Now words spoken are few.
Your warm honeyed kiss,
None sweeter than this.
And I must say adieu.

Amazing chin
How proud the lift
When younger days we knew.
We'd both stand our ground,
Speak without a sound.
And I must say adieu.

Amazing hair
That cheeky curl,
Thinner now it is true.
Your crowning glory,
Grey, tells its story.
And I must say adieu.

Amazing heart
Beats next to mine,
Honest, pure and true.
Loved you from the start,
Can't bear us to part.
And I must say adieu.

Amazing love
How wonderful.
I fall in love anew,
Truly every day,
I have felt this way,
My darling girl adieu.
