One more puff from my cigarette
To prepare me for another day,
Another day of work, another day
Of dealing uncaring, unrelenting customers.

One more drink from my bottle
To elude the everyday life
That I, alone, can’t handle.

One more pill from my bag
To release everything that
Has held me down throughout
My entire life.

All I ask is give me the strength
To escape and pursue a life
Of happiness enlaced with
No stress.
