simply a death poem - suicide and murder
I took a shuddering gasp as the icy water touched my skin,
The cold night air stung my face,
And my body was chilled from within.
The weight of bloody murder ran through me like a race.

In my mind, I thought of all things wrong,
In my heart I felt of all things right,
But the thought of what I had witnessed was all so strong,
There on that God forsaken island, I tried to forget with all my might,
The gruesome pictures which had glued themselves in my head,
Was it just a blunder?
Or was some other slain instead
I had to know, I had to find,
The one who had murdered that very night.

As the ocean lapped at my bare-feet,
I wondered of what was,
And what could have been in those last few heartbeats.

But at the same time,
I worried of myself; my memory was as blank as white paper
Where I had been last night, I could not remember,
At the moment of the crime.

The waves brought comfort to my cluttered spirit,
The music of the night freed my soul,
However the terror and destruction of the culprit
Was my one and only goal.

Had he singled out my friend
Or was he just a killer
Would he have shown her mercy
Or was it all a thriller
My life was almost over,
She had died of a repulsive sin,
I did not know who held that cleaver,
But it had been a sick and disastrous thing

On that shore, I collapsed into the water unwavering,
A blood-curdling shriek had pierced the night.
My scream was most aggrieving,
I felt my insides would ignite,
With a hatred so severe,
I did not know what hit me,
But it was pain beyond imagination and it came out all so clear,
My answer was a catastrophe:

It was no longer a mystery,
No longer a sea of wonder,
I now knew what had happened …
The murderer was me.

I raised the blood-stained dagger,
And with another disgusted screech,
I drove it in my side,
With a lurch and a groan, I felt myself stagger,
The truth was forever lost,
On that God forsaken beach.
