This is a short story I wrote for my English Class.
Looking at the sky, what do you see? Of course, it depends on exactly what time you look up at, but –no matter what time that is- you will always see an exploded planet’s debris float by our planet’s atmosphere. Sometimes, a chunk of that planet will even enter our atmosphere. Like a comet, it will fall to the ground – even if you don’t see it; you will certainly hear the flames roar with triumph as it hits it’s target on the ground. If they fall with enough impact; they’ll even cause a crater!
On entering the atmosphere, the small, insignificant pieces will burn and shrivel into nothingness, as they cease to exist. Of course, the bigger chunks, the one’s which are rather large on entering our atmosphere also reduce in size; but, they are only reduced to about the size of a small football. When they land- many people try to find the debris, and keep it for themselves. It’s because they are so beautiful, and –for the money hungry- extremely valuable. Their beauty, to some, is indescribable… But I am not of that “some”; The Sun’s rays sprinkles it’s praise on these gems, which gladly and proudly accept- they call to all who see it, wanting to be picked up, to be loved, to be your friend. Some say that this is part of their magical properties…
… Some say that the debris allow you to control Earth’s core elements; fire, water, ice, wind, and earth. These would be controlled by your will, at merely a thought; havoc could be unleashed on your dearest enemies. Hell could break loose, if everyone used this awesome power… Of course, these are only rumours.

I know the rumours to be true.
I am a freelancer agent. It sounds cooler that way. I have no HQ, no fancy gadgets, and no past, but I DO have a cause. I work for PNE; they try to rid this planet from dictators and the such. I don’t get paid, as it’s only a small group of people who wish to rebel against the current ways of the Earth… Well, if you can call it that…
The debris you see in the sky? They ARE the Earth. Or what’s left of it. Maybe that’s why they are considered beautiful- there’s a sense of nature about them; even babies, newly born- need not teaching of the reason to their beauty: they just know. It was a miracle someone found out about Global Warming’s effects. After Earth found out, many nations decided to contribute what money they had towards a large evacuative spaceship, in which many would escape; - but like any great achievement, it had it’s flaws. The nations argued with each other as to who would use the spaceship- there was war- a terrible war. It seemed that they had all forgotten that everyone would die anyway… I wish I hadn’t been a part of it…
This really was a world war: every country, every nation, every super power. Anyone not involved would not know the over surge of information being processed in the brain… it was overwhelming… stenches of blood – sights of bodies torn apart- sounds of blood-curdling screams – taste of the bloody dirt – feeling the trigger pushing onto my finger, itching to shoot… Some may have called this war a war to end all wars; but then, they said that about World War 1. Others even called it the war to the senses…
Unfortunately, many died. At least, that was what I was told. I had been wounded so bad that I fainted for the last part of the battle… I was saved, but only just. I later found out that over two thirds of the Earths population died… What few survivors that were left agreed to a truce, and they used the spaceship to get to Mars. No one was mutated by the journey, no stupid disfigurations; like turning green and sprouting gills, with heads able to turn in a full circle… No, we were able to live on Mars as we had lived on Earth. Thankfully, buildings had already been built from expeditions to Mars in the past..
However, after many years of living peacefully as one nation, a dictator rose…
Our aim is to stop him. Our aim is, ironically, to use Earth’s debris to return our world to normal. To return our planet into it’s peaceful state- similar to like it was on our old planet…
WE are Project New Earth.
