Only Time

A captive to the madness,
the world erupts in anarchy.
The rules of life are altered,
life and death no longer what they seem.
No longer does reason hold sway on earth.
Have we enetered hell or are we just cursed?
Violent impulses are acted on without a second thought
undermining all the progress peaceful minds have wrought.
The concepts of law have been reduced to one tenet,
they are now soley based on survival of the fittest.
Where is the kindness supposedly inherent in our society?
When will people realize that mindless does not mean free?
A true, impartial democracy will always be the way.
Is there still a chance that peaceful people could reclaim the day?
Somehow uplift society, drag it from this hell?
I guess we'll have to wait and see for only time will tell.
