A typical night at work
This goes out to all my employees, employers,
And all that know the fast food business,
Family restaurants, or just work that
Know what I mean.

Damn, computers won’t work right.
Charles is late, suppose to be here at five,
Now here it is 5:32 and he’s still not here.
Cameras on me as I sing this song,
Like I was Garth Brooks,
Watching TV as it never says nothing good,
Talking about bombs overseas, and
Talking about where Osama is, then I get up,
Walk around, waiting for that sound,
The time is looking pitiful, it’s near 190.
Ain’t my fault... this time.
I’m on the grill, not sandwiches.
Cheese and I have our problems.
But raw meat and me are best friends.

There is too many people on this shift.
It’s Sunday night, we’re expecting a crowd,
But it’s only 5:41, feels like 9:41,
And it’s been a long, long night at Wendy’s.
So grab a nugget while no one’s looking,
And sit back, watch TV with the volume low,
Because it’s been a long, long night at Wendy’s.
It’s early and I need help.

People pissed about their checks.
Linda’s here from 4-7 and I get off at close.
I’m working the grill, while she puts the fries down.
It’s not a big deal to me, but I don’t think it’s right.
Just like Friday night,
Me with the hand dolly running across the timer.
It don’t matter, now that it’s Sunday.
Wait a minute, we got a little rush:
Numero uno and a plain potato; 3 double stackers
And that junior bacon is a deluxe with nothing
But ketchup; 5 piece nugget and a happy meal
With a cheeseburger; are there beans in that chilli?
They interrupted me from singing my song.
It’s 6:15, now everyone’s gone, but
The shift’s complaining about the hours
At Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers.

Now, we’re set, Charles is here, waiting for the crowd.
Ironically, I’m watching The Prince of Egypt,
Because it’s 6:43, time running high,
Was at 116, now at 210.
So grab some fries while they’re in the office.
Pull up a foot ladder and have a seat,
Because it’s a long, long night at Wendy’s.
It’s early and I need help.

Tina keeps going from station to station,
Trying to bring the time down.
Acting like she really wants that
Big ten to twenty dollar Wal-Mart gift certificate.
If she does, she’s all by herself.
Although Cindy would take it and
Get liquor and maybe a couple of beers.
Now, I’m listening for the bong,
‘Cause I don’t have a headset on,
And Cindy’s gone,
But Kima’s here, and so is Angie,
Charles, and myself.
Angie’s stressing over money, and
Charles can’t wrap fast, but don’t worry.
I’m flipping burgers on this
Long, long, long night at Wendy’s
On a certain road.
