Two back to back field trips... with sixth graders... It is truly a terror.
My eleven year old boy comes to me with field trip permission slips and asks if I can attend them with him. Thinking about it, I figure there is nothing stopping me. I am a Stay at home mom and had day care for the next week or so.

I made arrangements to have the baby sat, talked to the teacher, made arrangements with the school for lunches and such, including a bus ride to and from school as I would be spending the day with him at school.

So, everything was set. I would go see the youth Philharmonic and the Ballet with my son. What a lovely cultural experience. My son, like his mother, loves the arts and theatre and music. This was a wonderful chance to bond with my son on a cultural level and enhance his interest in the arts. I congradulated myself on what a great parent I was.

Then the morning came. Why do my children get up an hour before they leave? I am not sure... But morning sucks. But alright, I used to work... I can get used to early hours for two days. I mean it is only two days. I get up and have a morning cigerrate. My son says, "oh by the way, you can't smoke at all from the time you get onthe bus, to the time we get off in the afternoon."

Right, no smoking, I can do that for two days. No problem. I don't smoke much anyway. So, we head to the bus.
