My concept of certain occurances during the Autumn Equinox
The Solstice Celebration
written by S.W.G. Kern

As the darkness of night settles deep in the wood
Small figures in green moving swiftly along
A silver light shimmers and then waxes strong...
Come dance! the Summer is passing away
`Tis the Solstice Dance tonight that they`ll play.

To bid a farewell to the warm breezes` song,
The wind turning chill and the shadows grow long;
An end to the season of growth and crop-tending.
When blazes of firelike leaves crown the trees:
A magnificent mantle spreading down to the seas.

The Fairy-lights growing and fading anon
With quick shining eyes
And laughter like song
The hawthorn, the rowan and old willow too...
May the wisdom of ages take root within you.

The fire grows high and the music thrice strong
A tribute then paid and
High honors bright sung
To the bounty and beauty of our own Mother Earth,
Our health and our wisdom small part of her worth.

Of the Elven Gods with their heroes and foes;
Of the way of our world
While it was still young,
Of marvellous kingdoms that are long since dust
And weapons enchanted become brittle with rust

Of the thundering horse and the squirrels in the trees
The spider`s silk web snaring all but the bees
Moss growing wet on
the dark side of the stone,
And the Wind God with eagles at the foot of his
throne.

The Autumnal Arrival was thus welcomed in
And as Luna looked on she started to grin
and the Elves disappeared in a wink, so you see
that the old tales are true of the green folkies wee.
Show love and respect to the wild lands, care
For the Earth and for Fire and Water and Air.
