A poem about life as I view it. I wrote this when I was 15.
I am a gentle, blue ribbon in the raging war of the sea.

I wonder if intelligent life past our galaxy exists, and where, or if, the universe ends.

I hear whispers of past lives guiding my path through the tunnel, so I may not make the same, irreversible mistakes as they.

I understand that I am not the only human being with hopes and fears and dreams.

I want to deal with the thorns tossed towards me in a way that will make my will and purpose stronger.

I am a gentle, blue ribbon in the raging war of the sea.

I pretend that all the hardships hurdled my way were meant to make me persevere so I may ascend the steps to something greater.

I feel a greater force within me. A force that reminds me I am not alone.

I touch the remnants of my ancestors and all the people I've met during my life who are responsible for making me the person I am.

I worry that my hopes aren't worth hoping for, my dreams not worth dreaming for, and that my greatest fears will turn on my in an effort to survive, for there is always a darkness lurking behind every wall.

I cry when a sword tumbles down on me, making my life's goal seem a thousand miles away.

I am a gentle, blue ribbon in the raging war of the sea.

I understand that each step I take brings me closer to my destiny.

I say that one's true goal in life is not to remember yourself, but to be remembered by everyone but yourself, for how good you were to all; rich or poor, black or white, intelligent or ignorant, for a life spent self-absorbed is as tragic as all great creations known to man being destroyed.

I hope that destiny will turn out as it were meant to be, trailing behind me a history worth remembering.

I try not to give up when standing behind a mountain of marble, and to get past seems impossible.

I dream that one day I will be known to all, so well that my imprint will be engraved in stone.

I am a gentle, blue ribbon in the raging war of the sea.
