Humorous Invitation to Life |
Me Mum told me you’re not well and expecting to get worse Whilst pondering this sad news I was prompted to this verse About death it comes upon us all and this you clearly know But have you thought, when you leave, about where you want to go? You may believe there’s no option, life simply meets the end Of the long road you have travelled, without another bend No trace of ‘religious genes’ your sight must have grown dim With the vision so obscured of eternal life for ‘me Uncle Jim’ Your Mum though went before you, leaving all her prayers behind Hoping to the very end that our Saviour you would find I know you’ve heard it all before, I don’t presume to preach But don’t believe it can be over until your heart I reach You’re right it’s a one-way journey, you’ll not be here again So what’s wrong with risking it, the label of insane! Bow your knee to Jesus, you might just find He’s there Or, if you can’t bend over, just lift your hands in prayer It’s one ticket you can’t pay for a trip to beat them all By Grace it has been paid for, when Jesus gets your call Wherever those Pearlies are, just step through them to the King Where there’s far more to life and death has lost its sting Will close this now before we both get all carried away In our thinking, hopes and dreams and all that we could say I hope to see you again, if not here then you know where If nothing else makes sense, then at least believe I care |
