Ever had a "High Maintenance" gf? Bad experience? Ditto. I wrote a poem about it.
So, what did you think when I walked out the door?
Did your small mind conclude we were going to war?
Were you angry I called you a childish bore?
Will you burn the mementos I left in your drawer?

You thought you had snared my heart with your hook.
Well, peek out your window, come take a look
At the real man I am, not the one you mistook
For some slavish fool, a page for your book.

I tried playing your games, 'cause I thought you had class.
But what I found out made me look like an ass.
Your whimpering ways were so blatantly crass,
Your cold heart was molded of steel and brass.

Your "high-maintenance" life left me feeling worn out.
When I did my own thing, you'd stand there and pout.
You loved only yourself, of that there's no doubt.
The love that I felt will find new lands to sprout.

I'm walking away to live life on my own.
I'll feel empty inside, but I know I have grown
Into someone who can pass up you or your clone.
Your cold-hearted ways left me tired and alone.

Your physical beauty will stand you only so long.
After that, life's lines will start sounding the gong.
They'll leave you in tears, your ego less strong.
And the memories you left will be your swan song.

So what will you do, now that I've gone away?
Will you find a new boy toy with whom you can play?
Or will you finally find out it's a brand new day?
Will you open your heart, or seek subservient prey?
