walking away from a friend. silence killing me
I stand in the vastness around me

Wondering if the cold grows within

Each star is whispering above me

I dread the scene about to begin

I've done this too many times

Each cuts deeper than the last

I guess it's better than avoidence

A weekend goes too fast

Open my mouth to say it

It doesnt want to come out just now

There are many things that I would like

To say to you, but I dont know how

Stalling as long as I can

Reaching for more words

Begging for a few more moments

In the end, it was only a blur

I walk away in silence

If I speak, my voice will crack

The stars will over-compensate

For the words that I now lack

My tears, they threaten, behind my eyes

I will not allow them to fall

Breathe in deep, and tighten my fists

Try my best to stand up tall

I hear my footsteps on the pavement

My keys cut the skin of my palm

Breathe in again and try to look brave

And pray that from behind, I look calm.
