Playing Monopoly was no choice for Jack. |
Chapter 1: No Choice. I was sitting on my bed reading Charlotte's Web for school. What a way to spend a Saturday morning instead of watching cartoons full of anvils and laughs. I finished chapter 21 out of 22 but I had to finish it by Monday and write a 10 paragraph report about the story. My name is Jack Roberts. I am 8 years of age and in 2nd grade. Hey I was born on Christmas alright. I'm tall for my age. I'm even taller than my 10-year old sister, Rachel. We have another brother but he's in college. He's planning on being an engieneer. But what I hate the most is playing Monoploly. Oh, boy. That is my sister's favorite game but I hate that game. Oh, my sister will beg, and, beg, beg, beg, beg, beg, and beg me to play but I always say no. After our brother left 6 months ago she always wants me to play. Well I had finished the 21st chapter when my sister said, "Will you please play Monopoly with me?" I said, "No." "Pleeeeeeaaaaaassssee!" she whined. Well I was bored and I have almost finished my book so I said, "ALRIGHT!" Her eyes brightened. "Really?" I nodded. "Good," she said. "Because the game is all set up." Chapter 2: Goodbye Boardwalk and Park Place The game was all set with us each having $1500 each. The game started out badly. I landed on Chance and got sent to jail. My sister landed on Community Chest and got to get $200 extra dollars. I rolled the dice 11 times and didn't get doubles. I finally payed the $50. And by the time I was out my sister had gotton Boardwalk and Park Place and had put hotels on each of them. And then on my next turn I rolled a double. And another double. And another double which got me sent to Jail again. but I happened to buy St. James Place and Tenesse Ave. Chapter 3: The endless game. After 5 hours of playing I was getting tired but the game still was going on. I had gone to Jail 10 times and my sister only 2. Both time she had a get out of Jail free card. She had $2,000 dollars and I had $40 and a place morgaged. The place I had morgaged was the Electric Company. I went 5 turns without landing on my sister's properties and she went 5 turns landing on my property with $200. She had only 2 propeties. Because she thought Boardwalk and Park Place was good enough. But then there was a turn. Chapter 4: The Turn I had payed back my morgage. It was Rachel's turn. She rolled the die. She landed on Pennsylvania Ave. and it was my property. It had a hotel on it and so she owed me $1,400. But even with all her property morgaged and all her money she couldn't pay it. I had won and oh, wait my sister said that if I won I would get her comic book and If she won she would get my favorite book. |
