Poetry that reflect different times of day! |
Times of Day... I sit and watch the evening sun, As it sinks into the west. And I always say, "This time of day", Is the one that I like best! But then I see the starry sky, When the moon makes shadows creep. And I say to myself, "No this is best", As I drift into peaceful sleep. Then morning comes, and I stand in awe, As the moon gives way to sun. And then I think that I was wrong. This time is the very best one. But at noon when the sun is high And the shadows very small, I tell myself I was wrong again. This time is the best of all. Afternoon shadows creep into the east, As the sun makes its way to the west. And then I know I cannot choose, All times of the day are best. Day Break The earth is still, the moon is low, A lonely night bird trills. And in the east, the dawning light Outlines the trees and hills. A squirrle chirps, a robin sings, A golden light shines down. And through the pines I see a deer, All speckled white and brown... The End of Day The sun goes down in a scarlet rush. The land is quiet and still. The birds and squirrels have disappeared, And the moon peeks over the hill. Night birds call in a mournful cry, An owl hoots from a tree. And Darkness creeps on pussycat feet, And covers the land and sea... Evening The setting sun streaks the sky. The air is cool and still. And in the gathering darkeness, I hear a whipoorwill. He'll keep on calling through the night. His song is loud and clear. But soon enough he'll fly away, And come again next year. |
