wow... what strength, and yet i notice a shift here and there-- certainly they are loved, but the narrator knows that nothing lasts forever, so protects himself from living in illusion... but i feel the tug you know.. cause that's what we want is eternal happiness... maybe this poem is about finding happiness in self-discovery and truth no matter what emotions say? :) ...and enjoying what you can along the way...maybe so.
