I don't think this is silly at all, but rather very deep, and it would be so very encouraging to a cancer patient, particularly a child. I know of one such, as well as a particular adult going through the loss of her hair right now. I think you should submit it to the Cancer Centers.
I love the unknown interplay of thoughts between the two characters. I especially like the "this time I found us" part. Time alone is quite cherished in some cases as this story tells but it makes the time together a lot more meaningful. This would be a great story to post in a magazine or Reader's Digest. Even better idea would be for this short story to somehow be in a "love" type greeting card with nice pictures of the beach on a moonlit night with a silhouette of the two embracing.
Best wishes with your writing!
I have been as Moon Daughter. My place was sitting on the rock in the middle of a river, contemplating my fear of staying, my fear of leaving, and the fear of the unknown yet so welcomed compared to the way things were. Mine is reflected in my story "In Time", a brief time in my life betweenst painful familiarity and glorious release. You've done a great job in this writing. I commend your work!! Awesome. Thank you for sharing. Vicki Lynne aka Taznatic.
