I have seldom heard the process and experience of grieving expressed more elegantly and thoughtfully.
The analogy of the layers of an onion is a beautiful way to describe how grief ebbs and flows, how it impacts on different levels, and how one copes.
As I was reading it, my eyes filled with tears. Most people can relate to grief to a certain extent, but you have given a detailed description that will linger with me, in trying to understand what it is like to lose a sibling.
To give you some constructive feedback, I would like to mention that in the second paragraph, the sentence beginning with "You can either push back down the layer..." needs some work, in allowing the meaning of it to come across more clearly.
I hope your writing gives you comfort and ease. Thank you for sharing what you express so very well!
