This kind of reminds me of Titanic for some reason (Don't ask me why).
Quite sad, represents very well a person who has lost hope in love and doesn't want to meddle in it anymore. I must admit the usage of the world "bloke", usually used in a bar or some such place slightly put me out of place. Although the vocabulary used was quite extensive and gave a good impression of the sea on a boat. I will however say that romantic, especially melancholic poems or stories are not something that is particularly new. But well done, carry on. :)
I must say the introduction to was very clever. It was quite a plot twist and very impacting. I also liked the "Everything she ever loved is hanging by a thread". I think this has the potential to convince someone from committing suicide.
Although, on a creative note; the argument that people will grieve your death after your suicide has been done so many times. Don't get me wrong: I'm not disagreeing with you, I just think you could find another argument that hasn't been said so many times.
A very impacting story though, well done.
