very good point and an experience I faced. In undergraduate school I took part in an experiment. Set up very similarly, with read directions first. I read number one, answered the questions and sat. at the end, after they picked up the papers, we reread the instructions and most of us were in shock.
Like Winnie, I became a teacher and have taught graduate students who have to submit articles to be published or to submit for proposals. I tell them instructions are extremely important, as many just write what they think is best. I point out that I would reject it as it does not follow the instructions. students slowly learn that they must follow directoins. I think this is something they may have to do by making the mistake. Just telling would not have much impact.
I like the alliteration with the y sound. and then you had the poem using the words in order, which helps somone like me, withought poetry skills, follow easily.
Very upbeat message. and as you say, it is timeless.
No suggestions for corrections, but a few comments.
I live in Japan with my Japanese wife and one of our family rules (we only have about 4) is to always say thankyou for any help you give. and say it with meaning, not as if it is required. My wife, daughter and myself try to follow this rule diligently, but sometimes we forget. Reading your message reminds me that we need to be reminded.
For your information, our other family rules are
1. Do your best, but you do not need to be number 1.
2. always make memories, both good and bad ones help you learn when you reflect on what you did.
3. change what you can in your life and let the things you can't change go.
Lots of interesting and helpful quotes for thinking about life. I would put the shortest and, what you think, are most important first. The long ones at the beginning make me hesitate to read. Just personal opinion.
The ones that really impacted me are
Tomorrow is another day. --Margaret Mitchell, from 'Gone with the Wind' ((( I even use now)
Fatalism is an excuse for those who lack the willpower of the weak. --Romain Rolland (new to me but makes a lot of sense in my life.
