I’m not a poet enough to comment really, but I liked this! I actually think it could be more impactful without lines 3 and 6. It leaves room for the reader’s imagination, rather than having to explain the situation fully. I think you understand what’s going on anyway, without those lines.
Let the scent fill my room is a really great line and what I loved about this poem.
What a lovely introduction! I think a lot of us who join this site are in the same boat, and want to know if we actually have the talent to engage readers.
I found it interesting to read about how you feel when you finish a book. I’m looking forward to writing and finishing my own to see if it resonates!
This is a great story and creative idea. I like the way you write.
At first I thought, this character is rather emotionless, and by the end I understood why - he is numb, I guess. You could make him a bit more 3d by adding in a small amount of emotion such as spite, resentment or regret, but it isn’t necessarily needed if you accept the fact that he is emotionless because what he has done doesn’t really matter in the end.
You recently reviewed my first post, so I scrolled through yours to review back.
I came across this one and got absorbed instantly. I find that often pieces on controversial topics are often very opinionated and make if difficult to like the author. However I did not find that with this piece. It is very honest, open and factual, with controlled emotion and thought which made it read really lovely. Although this is obviously a sad event, you can tell how this person has impacted on you in a positive way, and you emanate the happiness they made you feel. Your writing flows so easily.
I’m really very new to this site, so honestly don’t know how it works, but I believe this is factual from a while ago, and so I am sorry for your loss and hope you have found other happinesses. Your life sounds interesting, and worth writing more about!
Sorry to review an older piece when you have newer content, but this just stood out to me.
