This is a review by Nikkey76 for the poem "A child's dream"
What I liked:
This was a very sweet and inspirational poem. I could see this poem being read for Earth Day or Children's Day.
Suggestions:
Typo on this line : Light os truth shines so no more dark nights,
You may wan to write out the word "and": This world can change into the one inside you & me
Summary:
This poem was a pleasure and effortless to read. The rhythm of the poem flowed nicely and never felt cheesy or forced. Many poems like this are so filled with cliches it's hard to take them seriously. It was carefree and I could see this being the anthem for Peter Pan and his Lost Boys. Nice work, Write On!
This is a review by Nikkey76 for the story "The Assassin"
What I liked:
I loved the vivid descriptions. It helped me understand the character and the setting.
Suggestions:
No spelling or grammar issues , however I have a question:
If the assassin was searching for the killer of his family what led him to the vicar?
Summary:
I loved every minuet of this story. If this is your first , your gonna be a fantastic writer. I especially loved the detail in which you set up the characters as well as the setting. l Lines like:
"The bare branches of the surrounding trees were grasping towards the sky, like crooked hands clutching at the night – trying to reach the stars and imprison them in their embrace . . ."
are flawless story telling. Welcome to Writing.com I hope to read more of your work in the future. Write On!
This is a review given by Nikkey76 for the short story "Trick or Tweet".
What I liked:
EVERYTHING! Wow this pre and post apocalyptic morality tale was brilliantly arranged.
Suggestions:
Honestly I felt that some of the conflicts introduced were a bit predictable, for those of us who are sci fi fans and watch or read Star Trek or Doctor Who are use to stories with technology going too far and destroying the lives of every day man woman and child on the planet. On the other hand anyone who is new to the genre would have been pleasantly surprised.
Summary:
This really was an awesome short story. I loved the sci fi piece and found it very refreshing that you took the time to build up the character relationships within the story. My heart went out to John as he lost his family and his life in the end. Great story I hope to read more in the future. Write On!
This is a review given by Nikkey76 for the poem God's Heavy Hand.
What I liked:
I enjoyed the sequence of events, and the action.
Suggestions:
I got a little lost after the 8th triplet, but the poem quickly picked up again in the 10th triplet. Maybe a bit more detail as to what is happening will keep your readers on track.
Summary:
Knowing before hand that this poem was about an EMT helped me refocus on the meaning of the poem if it were not for that I would have seriously gotten lost. All in all it was a very interesting poem, filled with action ( give the reader more detail ) I also thought with a little more work this would have made a great flash fiction piece.
This is a review by Nikkey76 for the story "Time":
First Thoughts: Wow,I think I've found that missing Doctor Who episode I was looking for.
What I liked: Everything. The story was thoughtful, imaginative, and suspenseful.
Technical Issues or Suggestions: None
Final Thoughts:This was a real treat for me to read. The idea of telling the story through letters really gave the story depth. Being a science fiction fan I love the whole concept of time travel. Yes I am a Doctor Who fan and this story really felt like something that would be either int he books or on the show. Terrific story telling!
Thank you for the advice. I am a new writer who maintains a medical blog, and two writing blogs. I also have a Facebook and Twitter account. I was a lost when it came to promoting my work. I never thought of adding on the URL address for my Writing.com page or contacting the Webmaster at my favorite writing web site to spread the word about myself and Writing.com. I love this site, it's helpful advice like this article that has helped me grow as a writer and in confidence about my writing abilities.
This is an amazing piece. There is so much feeling in this testimony. As a mother I can appreciate wanting to protect your child ( no matter what the age) from anyone or anything that may cause harm. I can also see this story through the eyes of the adult child. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 and what hurt the worst was not the after effects of chemotherapy but the fights I had with my mother over my independence. I commend you on this poem, your a very special person of God.
This is a review by Nikkey76 concerning "Black Curtain"
First Impressions: Dark and cold are the first words that comes to mind. This poem reminds me of the last nights of autumn here in upstate NY when the winter wind and clouds seem to turn thewhole world grey.
What I liked: I liked your use of imagery. The reader really gets the sense of something that was once beautiful and full of life is dying .
Technical Issues or Suggestions: None, everything looked fine to me ( then again I am no English teacher, I just know what I like)
Final thoughts: A person who suffers from "winter blues" would say you've painted a picture of their world perfectly. The dismal ambiance really gives one the feeling of their world dying, and the bitter sadness is causes. Brilliant!
Impressive, powerful and heartfelt. This is an amazing poem! The range of emotion is true for any one who has ever prayed desperately for any reason. The poem flowed, the pace was fast, and I think other readers will really enjoy it. Great work.
