Review of For My Mother  Open in new Window.

Thanks for this poem of mothers and daughters...one of the most difficult relationships on the planet.
To define ourselves as the women we are, we have to be taught about life from mom, then teach mom to let go.

Only points I have to offer are these: At times you seem to be following a rhyming scheme, and then not.
This makes it a bit more difficult of a read. Maybe this is more of an open love letter to Mom than a
structured poem. You also state your mother will not be there..is this a reference to growing apart, or a
true pending seperation? Not clear. Also, "Dear Mother" being in quotes seems sarcastic, and the emphasis on certain phrases with capital letters seems
to indicate strong feelings of angst. Are you a teen?
Just a guess! Also, no matter how bad it gets, mothers never can wish their children were not here.

All in all, true, raw emotion and I got the point: I
believe communication is the ultimate goal, and you did well! Bless you and WRITE ON!

"HE FELT THE SHADOW OF HER SOUL...." What a romantic and intimate description of the relationship shared by
these lucky two. And what a terrific use of a prompt many others may have used for horror or loneliness!
My only problem arises in understanding the loving husband was not in the moment, but in the memory of
those moments. Where did she go, and why does he wait? I'm pretty sure this is my own lack of understanding, but the moment is of their communion is an engrossing and powerful image, and I was hoping to see it evolve. All in all, enjoyable to read! Thanks!
