Very intriguing story. Leaves the reader wondering who & why started the first fire, and why he/she did not want the "stranger" to remain. It could also be interpreted as a dream or fantasy, someone who has witnessed a fire and is recalling it in a dream.
The writing style is excellent. I would like to see this writer do more.
An incredibly moving poem! So universal to many of us with parents who have passed on before all the "issues" have been resolved. Bittersweet, but beautifully written. If this is true, your Mother would be very proud and touched.
