Loved this...It made me feel wistful, a little sad, and... some other emotion I can't quite define. I can't think of anything else to say about it; which is generally a good thing, as I'm full of criticism. One thing, though... 'Cleanse' instead of 'cleans'. Anyway, thanks for sharing this here. I am glad to have read it.
Excellent story-line. You kept me reading until the end, and that takes a lot, especially when it comes to sci-fi. The characters were fairly well developed, the dialogue felt natural, and the back-story was thorough, possessing detail and depth. My only complaint - and it's a mild one - is that the description of the surroundings could be fleshed out a little more. I didn't really feel like I was there. Also, personally, I would have liked to get to know the main character a little better before jumping right into the action - however, there is something to be said about the way you did it. It definitely caught, and held, my attention and left me wanting more. Great job.
