I love this poem, probably because my interpretation links me to the book. It was nice to find this poem for me to relate too, as so many of the poems I read I struggle to connect too. On a more mechanical level, the depth of description you used on the book was wonderful, the feelings of loneliness and lack of self-worth seep from your words like unstitched wounds.
There's a very nice flow with this poem, and a beautiful story that I connect with. It's easy to shut down and shut people out of your life when something bad happens, something I've done many times before. Your poem helped remind me of that and put me at ease with my situation now. I only wonder if you have had something similar happen to you, or someone around you, or perhaps you were those "gentle hands." We don't often think of ourselves as being any kind of help for people, but sometimes we are.
Away from my ramblings and back to the poem, it was simple and short, exactly the kind of poem I like. It's a lovely look at love, with many interesting line breaks which add to the excitement in reading. This is the poetry that I prefer reading, doesn't always rhyme but flows and appeals to everybody in some shape or form.
