Poetry is such a difficult form of writing - you definitely nailed it with this piece. I was intrigued from the beginning, but once the third stanza was underway - I completely fell for this poem. What I liked the most, was the topic - such a simple, yet overlooked experience that everyone can relate to. Great use of imagery and vivid vocabulary. The third and fourth stanzas stood out from the rest. As the poem ended, I was a bit disappointed with the ending at first - but, when I reread your words, I was captured by the eloquence and honesty in the final line, "allowing traffic to continue." It is extremely blunt and honest. When something doesn't directly affect us, we pay no attention to it. Great poem! Keep at it.
Everyone can relate to the message you are conveying in this piece. We all experience the loss of a loved one at one point or another, and all writers experience writers block as well. Poetry is definitely the most difficult form of writing and you have a lot of potential. This piece is very relatable, yet simple. I think that the simplicity of it makes it good, but I also think that if you added more emotion and imagery into this, you would have had a more striking poem.
