Being a lover and writer of history myself i found your writing fascinating and chock full of historical time period references and details. This was a darn good read and I hope to find more on here from you in the future. Nicely Done and I cant wait to see more!
This was well done. Seemed a little sparse but you definitely got your point across in the writing. One wonders if this was written for someone or for a relationship related item such as an anniversary or whatnot. Either way its well said and clearly covers how the author feels about someone!
I am both an avid civil war fan, a member of the 14th virginia volunteer infantry regiment reenactors group, and a civil war memorabilia collector and this is by far the best civil war story I have read in some time. What a great story and awesome plot. Well done! Thank you so much for sharing such a great story with us here!!!!
This was a nicely written short story and your use of self dialogue was great in this. I especially liked all of the details you include in the main characters thoughts as he approaches the house. The only thing I think you should do is possibly make the paragraphs a little smaller, but other than that, good job! Hope to see more from you in the future
Great story and plot. I love the amount of description you throw into your writing. It makes one feel like they are in a movie like red cliff. I am excited to see where you take this main character. Was this intended as part of amuch larger story? If so I hope to read the rest soon.
Being the son of a Veteran with 34 years of service in the Marine Corps, this meant a lot to me personally. I myself was a swabbie for only 8 years though. I didnt fight anyone or anywhere, just did my thing for my country I guess. This was great and I am proud to know that there are people who are still proud of America and what she is supposed to stand for.
WOW...What a darn good story. Im a little more jealous now. I never once thought of using the Celts as an alternate time line. What a heck of a story. It reminds me of the PC game ROME: Total war barbarian invasion. There is a playable group called Romano British. They were patterned after roman fighting formations and also used the pila, and used "British legionnaires". What an awesome story!
I love the story but I feel I must point out some things here. Your main character is a Generalleutnant, or Lieutenant General. His rank would have been pretty high up there to be treated like he is in your story. His rank equivalent in the SS would have been Gruppenführer or group leader. With that high of a rank the commandant of a arbeitslager would have been, maybe only one or two ranks higher than him.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the story and believe it would be the great beginnings for a screenplay, or made for tv movie. It has the touch of a little of war and remembrance in it mixed with Schindler's list. Great job. Just do some research into SS and Wehrmacht ranks and some historical character research. Put it into notes so its easily accessible while writing your draft.
I couldn't help but be saddened by this. You can feel the unspoken story here of a love lost with only the memories left to think of. This is a very good writing and well put together. Im normally not a poetry kinda guy to be honest but I definitely liked this. It actually made me think of my own lost loves. Great job!
Wow, what a great story. This sounds similar to a movie I saw one time years ago. I think this could easily be stretched out into a full length crime novel. I particularly love the attention to detail you've provided in the story, and how it all comes together at the end. Nice job and I cant wait to see more like this in the future
This was a great story and one that I will surely remember for some time. Being a huge Alternate History buff myself I was amazed to find this. Great job and keep up the good work!
Nice job with this short story. Love how you dropped in period music and how the pilots in the story just missed intercepting the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Makes you wonder what would have happened if they had? Nice job!
