Rather a strange and haunting tale. I like the suspenceful build up to his escape. But found that I as well as he were rooting for his demise instead. Dreams are strange places and best visited from the prone position. I like the shift to reality and the explanation through the detective and his protege' as to what was going on. That only leaves one question. Who's blood was it? Well maybe two questions. What is on the other side of the mirror; really?
Good story, I am a country boy and while I have never been to a threshing but it sure had a familiar ring to it like all the reasons country folks can think of to have get togethers. All the women cooking and the men working or playing according to the occaision.
You brought back fond memories and your descriptions are apt. Keep up the good work. TK
