I may very well be interpreting this incorrectly, but this kinda seems like an apt description of crippling anxiety and/or depression. Poetry isn't normally my cup of tea, but I did enjoy it though in a sad sort of way, if that makes sense.
Funny, cute, and a little too real :p. I appreciate you putting the definition of askance in the bottom as I was unfamiliar with the word (totally gonna try and add that to my vernacular by the way) but of course I can't help but wonder if this was based on a real life experience ;)
So first and foremost I absolutely counted the syllables, I was pleased to note you had the proper five, seven, five. I find it uplifting though slightly bittersweet as it reminds me of my grandfathers favorite saying "one day at a time" he was an alcoholic and basically every day the sun came up was a new lease on life for him.
While poetry isn't normally my thing, I found it pleasant with an oh so slightly dark undertone that I appreciated. I am also grateful for the brief explanation of the term "acrostic poetry" given I had no clue what that meant. I also notice that while this bit is from last year I think it fits really well given current events.
