"Oops,we did it again," came to mind as I read this picturesque tale of a post apocolyptic world about to go through another apocolypse. The writing is very well done and the story is easily converted to images for me. (I like stories that play like a movie in my mind.) In my opinion this story should be longer and published in an anthology of other tales.
I think this story is an excellent "slice of life" from the view point of an orphan. To me it captures in very few words the pain of being alone seemingly in a world of families. The story is short and to the point, very consise and still filled with imagery. Makes me think of a mix of Truman Capote (A Christmas Memory) & Harlan Ellison (PainGod).
