I liked it that Dr. Rimwold gave a plausible "scientific" explanation for why Kerk saw Marli's ghost.

All of your arguments are reasonable arguments.

I would also add that speed of light is expected to be an absolute speed barrier, which no technology will ever get around.

However, I realize that those who understand this about speed of light, will also know that no unidentified flying object is an artificial craft from another star system.
