This is a wonderful tribute to our soldiers who are away from their homes. I think that we all feel a connection to them whether we have family members that serve or not. The images that you create are very clear. I can see the stars, the sky, and the eagle. This makes me think of my young sons who are already thinking about going into the military and what they might go through if they do.
I enjoyed the simplicity of this piece while it still created so many beautiful images. I can hear the music and the doves while I read. The language flows well even though each stanza is very different.
I must say that this poem reminded me of myself, but I'm sure that many reviewers say this. My past makes me doubt what I can do with my talents even though I want to use them.
I have always been a fan of abstract and symbolic poetry. I think that's because I struggle with writing it myself. I feel that this poem is trying to tell about the growth of a woman trying to find herself within a marriage. At first she feels like she is just doing her duty being her husband's wife, but then realizes that she needs to be her own person and be supported by him.
I enjoy the language that makes me think about its meaning. It seems like a lot of your symbolism is personal to you, which is very nice as well.
