Sometimes I go to listen to the traditional storytellers here in Kenya. Last night one of them explained how important it is for him to keep the audience hooked to the story. He explained that he has to use very expressive hand and facial gestures alongside voice intonations that throw the listener into the story. Writers do not have the luxury of gestures and voice intonation, but we have the gift to use words to describe powerful scenes, thoughts and messages.
