A lovely thoughtful poem that caused memories in my own mind of stolen moments in an aspen grove in the high Rockies. All that was missing was my dog, Pookie, long departed for doggy heaven now. I could not have written better myself, and wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing. George Dixon.
I had a similar experience! In my case I thought it might be fun to make friends with him. I put a sock over my hand and grabbed him against a window. I talked to him softly and decided to pet him when he stopped struggling. Wham!!! He wriggled around and bit me viciously on the finger. I still have a faint scar after all these years. Your own adventure is a fun read (as always). Best to you, George.
Excellent article. I've had type B for 13 years, and take insulin every day. In your next revision it would be helpful if you said a few words about insulin therapy, etc.
A thought provoking poem about the first couple. I have often pondered the story. On a broad scale some things haven't changed since Eden. Your verse is whimsical and hits all the important points. Best, George Dixon.
You are right. I too am a warrior. Excellent writing for an English class. Keep practicing. In time you will be cranking out material worthy of publication. Best luck, grdixon.
Food for thought! Many have given up on Congress. Perhaps that explains the present sentiment to drain the swamp and start over. Keep on thinkin' and writin'. 👍
I am bipolar, and this truly resonated with me. I was prescribed an antipsychotic drug which I take every day, and it has decidedly improved my condition. Good luck! grdixon.
This really resonated with me. I flew in the Air Force, and just before we reported for duty in Germany, one of the transports was shot down with all aboard perishing. And that was the end of our youthful feelings of invincibility. I look forward to reading more of your poems. Best regards, George Dixon.
Fascinating! He was a favorite with my kids oh so many years ago. Thanks for sharing these tidbits on a giant of literature for the small fry. Best regards, George.
I read with great interest your piece about obesity. I too am morbidly obese. I am also diabetic. It isn't clear what came first ... the diabetes or the extra pounds. The best advice I can offer you is to play the hand nature has dealt you and to concentrate on your strong points ... writing, having a good marriage, etc. we may come in many shapes, but we are all children of the most high. Be happy!
