This is reminiscent of my all-time favorite song, "The Rainbow Connection," particularly the second verse:
"Who said that every wish would be heard and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it, look what it's done so far...
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing, and what do we think we might see?"
In this scenario, Ana Lucia's vivid, vibrant, fruitful rainbow connection was for her to see her parents "...one last time..." as well as for a sense of peace. And, by means of wishing on the star, which I would assume was an evening star and not necessarily a morning star, this rainbow connection was not dimmed, stripped, and tarnished, but instead consummated. Greatly. Albeit a short piece, you most certainly did a spectacular job in conveying that Ana Lucia was an altruistic individual who wished for good to materialize in her reality, since the intended readership can easily conjecture that due to the absence of her parents, she experienced a sense of brokenness and lonesomeness that could only be cured via physically seeing her parents' faces "...one last time..."
Keep writing :) You are very talented :)
