This is one of those poems that makes you feel good and smile as you read it. You can sense the humor and joy your pets bring to your life, as well as the spurts of stress. It made me chuckle to picture these little troublemakers hard at work and play. It also made me think of my buddy, Nero, a brutish Boxer mix who chewed through more items as a pup than I care to recount. He's thinned my finances over the years, but he's also secured a huge place in my heart. your poem recounts that unconditional love and the fantastic bond that occurs between a pet and its human. Well done and a very enjoyable poem to read.
Very moving piece of poetry. It had a nice pace, good flow, and a melancholy sort of feel to it. I wasn't expecting it to be about a father and son, and I feel that will strike a powerful note with many readers. I just wish the imagery would have been a little clearer. I wasn't sure if the father was homeless, just visiting a park, or if maybe he was a resident in some sort of home or hospital where they allowed him to sit outside. I think knowing the true circumstances would only help enhance this wonderful piece of work. Otherwise, questions I had aside, it was perfect.
Well done.
I warn you now, I am no poet, but this was nothing short of awesome. This is the first poem about an actual prison I've encountered here, and though I've never been to one, I feel as if I've gotten the full experience just from reading this. The sights and sounds all unfolded so clearly, as well as the brooding and dangerous atmosphere. Because of the wording, this had a definite epic feel to it and it read like a story. Excellent rhythm, pacing and rhyme. I could find nothing to point our nor suggestions to make. Well done and welcome to Writing.com!
Thanks for stopping in with a review. I have to agree, we do have a similar philosophy. I like your outlook and the title pretty much sums the piece up. Everyday, we are given chances in life. What we make of those opportunities is entirely up to us. Well said and well penned.
