I like this poem, it remains me of my childhood and when i used to build paper boats and play with them in the street at times when the rain was falling. I recall getting excited about their approach to the storm drain. Or playing with sticks in the local stream.
A very nice poem which touches my heart but leave me wondering where and what the father is going to invite me to. Into heaven after all i have been judged. I like to be left asking a question. It makes me think and brings poetry to life. For it is during the consideration of questions we find the answers.
Tim Chiu presents and interesting positive and optimistic view of love in this lovely poem called "Love Close Up".
Having been in love myself i can relate to the emotions expressed and the feelings of joy that can be found in the company of others and the feelings of trust, commitment and confidence.
Yet at the back of my mind is the thought of how optimistic a view this is. Love is a remarkable thing but it can bring with it great pain, sorrow, sadness, etc...
A broken heart, something which most who have loved and lost will at some point have suffered.
Technically this poem is fine. It is not one of those which rhymes and forces the author to compromise. It is a nice view into the authors feelings on the subject. I wish him all the best and hope he never feels the pain i mentioned earlier in my review. I going to give four stars, which in my view is excellent, five would be among the best i have ever read, three would be good/above average.
I hope you find this review wondrously worthwhile.
