Is erotica art? This poll poses the question.. This was of course the question of the Lady Chatterley trial. D H Lawrence won with help of great artists such as the great novelist E M Foster. Yet clearly much of what passes as erotica is badly written and unimaginative. Writing about the sex act can be as simple as scribbling on a toilet wall. That is hardly art.
So shouldn't erotica be judged in the same way as all other writing? Isn't the artistry in how it is written rather than in its bald content? This is, however certainly a question which is worth considering. Thank you for raising it by way of this poll.
A wonderfully dirty little poem, in the best sense of the word. The rising excitement of self-arousal is very well captured. The desire, longing and relief of climax are all so sensuously evoked. This is a celebration of the deep human need for pleasure and the benefit of self- provision.
A small erotic masterpiece
