I like this very much! It's a reminder of how much humanity can and has changed the landscape. I always like to think, though, that given enough time, nature would be happy to take it back.
I really like this poem. It gives you a warm feeling inside, and you can almost see them meeting each other, holding hands for the first time in however long they had been apart, smiling, and saying these words. Great job!
Even though it didn't win, I did like this piece. I, for one, had never heard that joke before, and it made me chuckle. You might want to do a little revision on it. There are several places where commas would be appropriate. This story could be developed into an even more fantastic one if you wanted to continue it.
This is a GREAT story, and totally something I could see myself doing when I was that age. It was obviously a lot more choreographed when I was in middle and high school, but in the early years, it, well, not. Half the time, I think the people did it on purpose, because, as now that I have kids of my own, it is pretty entertaining to see half the stuff that goes on in the young kids' productions.
Great story! I was pleasantly surprised, as I am usually not a fan of religious stories. But yours wasn't too gaudy with the religion. Just the right amount, like a nice dollop of whipped cream on a great bowl of ice cream. Also had kind of a "Sixth Sense" sort of feel to it at the end: One of those, "oh crap, it's me..." moments.
Great story! It was an interesting read, especially with the twist at the end. There are so many ways you could go with this story, if you chose to continue along these lines. I know that it was a flash story, but you could develop this into a Douglas Adams-esque story!
I really like this piece! It gives you a very interesting perspective on the battles that are just glossed over in history books. Most just tell the tales of the heroes and armies as a whole. Not often do you read about a single soldier, especially one who is coming down from the high of battle rage, and is realizing what has happened around him. For many people with issues from modern day battles, it isn't necessarily the fighting that scars them so, but the aftermath.
I hope we can expect more of such pieces from you...I would love to read them!
This story made me laugh. It does make you think, though, about how stories can get changed around just by talking to different people at the same scene. Each one seems to exhibit their own reasons why they would say one person did it over another. It would be hilarious if you added in the account of the butcher or a waiter. So whooooo is telling the truth?! hehehe
Great piece! It is good to see authors not just writing about the crap news seen on CNN and Fox News. Reading this really makes me think about the reason I served in the military, and makes me proud to be an American and a war veteran. HOOAH!!
