The story itself is a wonderful take on the ghost story genre. It does follow some familiar tracks, but this is by no means a downside. The execution is excellent, and I firmly believe that the ability to create something distinctive and unique without diverging too much from traditions is one of the marks of a great author.
The language is vibrant and picturesque, and the flow of the story is never interrupted. What I loved most were minor elements like those in the description of Jordan's mother that add extra layers of depth and vividness.
This is my first review here, and I'm not yet very familiar with local ethos. However, I'd like to invite you to take a look at the only item I've posted here so far - if you want to, of course.
Once again, thank you for "The Whistler". Best of luck with your writing!
