Why can only you write when you are emotionally sad?
That's not true of all writers. I do my best writing when I am relaxed, not sad. *Smile*
Emotion is the key to writing, and there are many feelings that can produce much from our muse, but like most of us in the world we are busy with life, and sometimes we only take note of our muse when she is crying. But if we bother to take her out every day, and encourage her to play freely, sometimes the result is as lively as a river. dance
Writing is an expression of emotion.
You can still write when you are happy and inspired. *Smile*
