Written something recently "Invalid Entry" I've entered something in the blog after a rough couple of weeks. It helps me to know if anyone else feels the same? Proud of myself: I didn't just make this an idea to return to later -- I made myself give it a beginning, middle and end. Walkinbird |
Jeff Brooke ~Minja~ and others... Doesn't this new show on HBO [Avenue5] sound like the WDC 18th Birthday Masquerade shenanigans...really...read the review here! https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/tv/story/2020-01-17/avenue-5-hbo-medi... |
It kinda does! I want to watch it and not just for inspiration |
I've just added an entry to my blog "Invalid Item" "Invalid Entry" Trying to not stay quiet and isolated |
Countdown to the world-famous Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA This was my favorite float from 2018 (I believe that was Earth, Wind and Fire emerging from the top of the Forum) ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
The Birthday Masquerade has wrapped. I took part a couple years ago, and this year I was in the groove, and really enjoyed my part. During the Masquerade, I did nothing to promote the contest I created for the month.
And I have no entries, no questions; but there is still a week left! If it looks like something that someone you know will enjoy trying,,,send 'em my way! I doubt The Masquerade is as much fun to just read through the forum and the suspect journal after-the-fact, but for anyone that stays on the bench annually but wonders what it is like...

Wow, what a cool idea for a contest! I must admit, I didn't get much of a chance to take part in the other birthday challenges/contests but what a cool idea this is. I'll share and we'll see we can get you some entries! And thank you for the fun and creativity your character provided. You can tell when an author clicks with his character and finds that "groove" like you mention. You did an awesome job! |
I've just edited an item in my portfolio:
If you're feeling curious and/or generous consider joining in on the fun. All levels of help accepted. Contest starts Sept. 1 in honor of WDC's Eighteenth Birthday Celebration! |
Please take a moment today to give a response on my poll
If what I have selected are not known to you, or you have another that needs recognition, do not hesitate to send me an email of the identity of other child protagonists in children's series. I already thought of at least five more since I created the poll (The Ender's Game hero, The Murray Children from Wrinkle in Time, The Baudellaire Children from Series of Unfortunate Events, The Pevensie Children (Narnia), Lyra and Will (Pullman's Golden Compass)...Oi! Thank you! |

Keeping some statements in the ol' notebook from an item I am going to ditch (Completely inspired by Andrea I'm running with this idea... an off-holiday gift exchange) What if there was no Christmas? If the world you lived in had a dark power or decree that made Christmas not allowed? This was part of the allegory within C.S. Lewis' Narnia story: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. (Part of the same message exists in Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas!) Do you find yourself able to celebrate even without the presents? Interested in getting to know all the wonderful work of our group members. And even I sometimes need an incentive. Let's also encourage other new writers, making them feel welcome. Get our visitors to stay here and chat a while? Don't feel that you cannot afford to take part: no touch of friendship can be too small. Volunteer in this forum and just be willing to give spontaneously of your time and/or talents! (Reviews make great gifts to others, don't you think?) Gift recipients will be those visitors that post in our forum in the week of Tolkien's birthday. Post your interest as a gift-giver Jan. 1 thru Jan 3. I will tell you who yours is by 5pm Jan. 3rd and you have till January 8th to give them a present. Everyone game? Welcome in the New Year and stay in the spirit of giving. Then, please, sign up in the forum below. Also, feel free to email me with any suggestions on how to make this better! |
