Today I started this muggy morning with my usual jog or more like walk/jog with our beautiful sable half Belgium, half German Shepard. I new it was going to be a tough morning because my 19 year old Marine was going to be heading back to his base in Washington, DC. He was on a 96 leave and had brought his new girl friend with him. She is this knife wielding chick from Maryland. Although she is very sweet I am hoping this isn't anything serious, but I digress. My Marine stationed in the US so for the most part is consistently safe will be 20 in a matter of 4 months and I still have a hard time letting go. I know, I know but at 20 I now believe I was totally unaware and stupid. I also see this in him. He isn't the most reasonable individual, and at times rather selfish. Perfect example of this is while packing to bought leave not only grabs his younger 15 year old brother's deodorant, he takes the extra one too. Leaving his younger brother with nothing.

Then there are those times he mature beyond he age and shocks me with his thoughtfulness and caring. Recently we lost his best friend, a unofficial member to our family, and Kyle was continuously there for Pete's parents. He held up and presented the folded American flag to Pete's mother. The whole time he said all he could hear was the sound of his heart pounding. He did this with maturity and class.

All in all maybe my husband and I didn't do such a bad job after all.
