| Hello all, I have been somewhat preoccupied lately by non writing craziness but tomorrow I'm posting some fantasy short stories that I hope to grow into a larger manuscript. These introductions are ideas and beginning of a series that will eventually all connect. It is based on a fantasy forest, or faerie realm that co exists with our own called Old Mother Forest. Since every story ever written is an adaptation of a story that someone has already adapted, all I'd like to do is attempt to retell a good faerie story in my own way. I'm more used to poetry snd look forward to diversifying my skills |
| hi, Id like to start a discussion group where we can share random, funny and odd ball thoughts and ideas. I set one up but since this is my first time doing so, if anyone has any suggestions id appreciate hearing them. I posed a question that my children asked and I thought would make a good beginning... Can a wizard count as a superhero? The wizard in question was Gandolf what defines a superhero? what kind of powers would you want to have and why? |
Well, superheros are usually protagonists (I think). Gandalf was more of a supporting character so I'd say that he's one of the good guys but not necessarily a superhero.  |

| Not sure. I think of superheroes as having superpowers. Gandolf had wizard powers but nothing "super"... unless one considers all wizards as having superpowers. In that case it still is questionable whether his powers were greater than other wizards. |
Reply| Hi, I tried to post this a few minutes ago and I don't see it posted, so ill try again I would like to post a random question that my children and I were debating during a Lord of the Rings marathon. Is Gandolf or (Wizards in general) Superheros? I said yes. a superhero in my mind is a gifted, enhanced or highly skilled individual who uses their abilities to fight evil and stand up for the little guy. Sometimes the hero only has a skillset (like Black Widow) or suit (Iron Man) but they put the resources they have to good use. Wizards who use their gifts for good, like Gandolf and Harry Dresden count. If you have thoughts about it, please share. |
| Hello, I have a quick and random question. Last night my children and I were watching a Lord of the Rings marathon, and debating on whether or not Wizards (from Gandolf to Harry Dresden) can be counted amongst super-heros. To my mind, a superhero is a person with a special skillset, Gift or enhancement who uses those advantages to fight evil. Look at Black Widow or Iron Man, they don't have a superpower, just strength, brains and/or special training. As I see it, Wizards count. My best friend disagrees. If you have a thought about it, please share. |
