Here's my latest story's number! #2301776 |
Hi, there, and welcome to WdC! It's great that you have a story to share. If I may, I'd like to suggest that you post it something like {item: 2301776} (without the space between the colon and the number). That way, it shows up as a link folks can click. Again - welcome, and have a great day! |
If you post {item:2301776}, you will see "Underspank Chapter 1-Mercy Or Violence?" . If you post {bitem:2301776}, you will see
Good luck and congratulations! |
This is the first chapter of my favorite fic series of all I worked. If people like it, I might put more chapters I worked on! |
Cool! Congratulations! Though it helps if you include the link. I think you already know how to do that, but in case I'm remembering wrong, here's how, using my own challenge...which you are welcome to check out. Using the 7-digit number below the title, curly braces (located above the square brackets on your keyboard) and no space after the colon, you can create 2 common links--item and bitem (big item). {item:2109126} = "The Contest Challenge" {bitem:2109126}
Congratulations and good luck! |

If your items are a bit niche, you should definitely try to find those niche readers, not that you shouldn't have non-niche fans, but they are less likely to read your stuff. You can find niche readers by doing a search in the upper left corner of the page. When searching, BE SURE to search "All of WdC," not "My Portfolio," the default. Yeah, I've done that plenty of times. Anyway, you can start making friends by emailing, reading and reviewing, dropping a friendly note in their Notebook, and other ways.
Also, be sure to include the appropriate keywords in the box for them when you are creating items. You can edit them using the gear in the upper right corner of the item, if you didn't do that from the beginning. I use the Quick Edit and have another page pop up, but do what makes you happy. Just be sure to Save the changes.
You can also start making fans by going through the Community Newsfeed and socializing, getting to know folks. To get to the Community Newsfeed, click Newsfeed (on the left side), then on your Personal Newsfeed (the default), click "View the Community Newsfeed" along the top. Now you'll see what EVERYONE is posting, not just your little corner of the world--official WdC stuff and anything posted by people whose plus sign you have clicked once (though preferably twice to become a fan).
When you are on the Community Newsfeed, just scroll, Like, comment, and start making friends. When you meet someone you like and want to keep up with, double click their plus sign to become a fan of theirs. Some of us, like me, will reward new fans. Though most don't, but if you're going to click their plus once, you might as well click it twice. A single click makes them a favorite of yours, but it's private. They don't know. Double clicking until you see the megaphone makes you a fan and they are notified. Then, if they reward fans, they can reward you. Either way, their notes will start appearing on your Newsfeed.
Here's what I'm talking about...
Schnujo's Doing NaNoWriMo?
Don't feel obligated to double click that plus, though you can, if you want. I just wanted to be sure you knew what I meant.
Anyway, you're doing a great job! Keep it up! Good luck and have fun!
