- you know I'm always gonna look for your face song of the day: A.M by One Direction what are some beautifully poetic songs out there?? |
Hi! I don't listen to music, but wanted to welcome you to the site. |
This artist passed away on May 1st, so I'd have to go with one of his: |
I have hundreds of songs that fall into this category, and I'm sure a lot of people would hate some of the ones I consider poetically beautiful. I mean, some people can't get past the music itself, some people need to be knocked over the head with the message, some people don't really care about the lyrics themselves, and some people can't find poetry in instrumental music. My playlists span death metal to pop to folk music to musicals to classical to modern instrumental/classical. On the more popular side - I only put on Max Richter if I want to rip my heart of my chest; "Somebody to Love" by Queen is wildly sad if you listen to it; Damien Rice has quite the collection; Del Amitri has some; old Barenaked Ladies stuff can get pretty heavy if you pay attention. You've got your Gordon Lightfoots (RIP), Leonard Cohen, Warren Zevon, Lyle Lovett, Townes Van Zandt, Sam Cooke, Stevie Nicks, Taylor Swift. That's just barely scratching the surface and just off the top of my head. It doesn't include indie artists, one-offs, or simply prolific songwriters who sell their stuff but don't actually sing. And 'Closer To God' by Nine Inch Nails may not exactly be poetic, but it's very poorly understood. |
Book rec of the month: These Violent Delights duology by Chloe Gong. Then afterwards I’ll send you straight to Foul Lady Fortune |
I added the 2nd series to my Audible Wish List because it was rated 4.6 and 5.0. The first series you listed was rated 4.1 and 4.5. Because I already have over 5,000 books in my Audible library, I'm pretty picky and rarely add anything less than 4.5 stars. But I did add that 2nd duology. Thanks for the suggestion. Side note: Since you are new, not many people will see your notes. Only people who go on the Community Newsfeed will see what you are writing, though posting things like this that are of use and interest to others is a good way to start getting noticed, so good for you! But you need to hop on the Community Newsfeed, participate in contests, join challenges, read and comment on other people's blogs (which can often be found on the Community Newsfeed lol), etc. to start making friends. Friends will eventually favorite or fan you (click your plus once or twice) and then start following you so you'll get more eyes on your notes like this one. It takes time to build up a fanbase, but keep posting fun, interesting, useful info and interacting with others and it will happen. |
