What's the fastest way to get rid of writer's block? |
I find inspiration in the NaNoWriMo Adoption Society threads. You can read through everyone's ideas and adopt and change anything you like. You can adopt unlimited ideas and unlimited people can adopt the same one. Log into your www.nanowrimo.org account (or make an account lol), go to the Community tab at the top and choose Forums. Then you can find it in the Story Development section or just search "Adoption Society," but be sure to choose the right one. There's a similar one called something like Adoption in Society or something. In the Adoption Society threads, you'll find Adopt a Plot, Adopt a Subplot, Adopt a Title, Adopt a Plot Complication, Adopt a Sarcastic/Witty Line, Adopt Some Last Words, Adopt a Line-Crossing Moment, etc. Tons of ideas there and feel free to post some of your own. |
Freewriting was the tip I got from WdC. It helps a little. But I am situated behind so many blocks of writer's block, that I doubt if I am able to. Lol. Well, sigh, there is always tomorrow! |
Tfw you finally finish writing something that you put off for weeks. Finished stuff like twice this week and i feel pretty good. |
CONGRATULATIONS! Keep it up! Are you going to be participating in
It helps prepare you for NaNo (AKA NaNoWriMo AKA National Novel Writing Month) in November. I can say I've never succeeded in NaNo without "October Novel Prep Challenge" and I've never failed at NaNo with "October Novel Prep Challenge" . Your results may vary, but I can assure you "October Novel Prep Challenge" is pretty awesome! For me, right now, even starting anything would be a bit of an accomplishment. |
The hardest part about writing is that writer's block happens when you're in the mood to write.. |
Two years ago, I was prepping a novel and hanging out in the Adopt a Title thread, posting my own title suggestions for others to take. Then I hit upon one that inspired a whole story and I stopped my prepping, starting prepping the new story and won NaNo with it. I don't know if they will do that for you, but I find SO MUCH inspiration in the Adoption Society threads!
Oh, another thing I've heard helps people is listening to music related to the type of scene they need to write--romantic, exciting, scary, etc. You can find tons of writing music of all sorts on YouTube.
YOU GOT THIS!
