Working on some lyrics! I'm writing a song for a school whose students are all newly arrived immigrants, so the lyrics are based on conversations with them and some of their written responses. Would love feedback as I start work on the music!
Is there a way to incorporate actual details/experiences? At first read it seems a bit 'distant'.
I remember 30+ years later how my new friends from Iran fled to Pakistan to Lahore with its hot chilies and unbearable heat. After a year or two as refugees all three were as thin as rails when they arrived in the US at the end of April. Then it snowed (in May).
The sights, sounds, tastes, touch (a bed as opposed to a floor or vice versa), smells (does fear smell?) would ground it. Of course, a song can only include so much.
Kåre เลียม Enga - Maybe! I was a little torn on the first draft, since there’s 20-some kids and it would be hard to have details for all of them. But maybe some details would be good. I know I still remember my first snow after moving from Mexico as a kid. These experiences stick with you, thanks for the suggestion!
Just finished the biggest portfolio overhaul I think I've ever done! But since it seems I've written more this year (really just in the past two months) than I have in a decade, I figured it was worth it.
