Just shooting the poop with Lori
He travels the world on the backs of others
Insignificant in his stature and size
His journey carries no mission
Randomly roaming at the will of his host
Sated enough to never question his trek
Life is an open adventure without worry
If the excitement of his dusty trail dulls
Another bus awaits to grant passage
With a furry friend to carry him home
Ah the wonderful life of a flea

It is the coldest day in March, around these parts, and I am up at seven a.m.. I so much want to crawl back into bed but have obligations today. Many months ago, I arranged a CPR class for the teachers at our local school. While the cause is good, I am very cold and very tired. I think I shall be trying to stay alive myself today. BRRRRR...

Today, this star is frustrated with herself. My crossword puzzle was not good and should have been more fact-based, so needs a redo. I took things of interest from the bios and portfolios of the candidates. I entered a contest that was already closed. Feeling a bit deflated like a red rubber ball. Let's see if tomorrow brings a better beginning.

Stories written are like jigsaw puzzles. Framing a tale is like finding the corner pieces. It is the easiest part of the task but missing pieces take away from the overall picture. Each little jig has the perfect saw as a mate. When they are woven together in a precise manner the portrait is extraordinary. Color will bloom from the details penned. Imagination is inspired by the quest for the newness of creation. Build a puzzle of intrigue and delight. Let the characters in your mind live a robust existence. Paint your scenery as three-dimensional works of art. Describe the emotions of your heart. Finish the puzzle completely.

Today is my oldest son's 23rd birthday. As happy as I am for him to begin his life and experience the offerings that the world has in store for him, I am torn from the emotions it brings to the surface. Time passage is a brutal and harsh visitor, but an extraordinary opportunity of greatness. I hope I have conveyed to my children the importance of seizing every moment life brings as gifts from God. It seems as if just yesterday he was wrapped around his Thomas trains in play on my living room floor or fighting imaginary foes with his sword in the hallway. I still see the little boy smile on his face but it is sometimes hidden by a beard. He will forever have my heart and my love but he has also earned my respect as the man he is becoming. Celebrate and live my son. I am proud and happy that I have had the experience to know and care about you. Happy birthday.

I work nights! When they throw a schedule at you that puts you working every other night, it is painful. People that make schedules are obviously not night-shifters, otherwise, they would not subject a person to such misery. I have now battled the same cold twice as rest and recouping has been limited. My laundry is waist deep and my family wishes to disown me for the crabby moments endured. Definitely in need of a vacation.

President's Day has come. No matter your politics, it is a day to honor the American president's past and present. Or better yet, kick your heels up, stay in bed, spend time with your kid, avoid the mail(no new bills delivered), shop for quality furniture (everyone running sales), or raise a flag for the country that has given you a wonderful life.

So here's a funny concept. I think that I have discovered that dogs are more like people than we realized. One of my dogs, Dimitri, ate his food too fast, He walked into the family room running and playing with joy and abandon, He then promptly vomited the freshly chewed food on to my floor. Dog number 2, Vladimir came up behind him and instead of doing the gross thing that I've witnessed other hounds do. He started retching like the sight of seeing another dog get sick made him ill. I have watched people do this often, but never dogs. Vladimir walked away with his nose in the air like the mess was just too disgusting for him to deal with. It made the clean-up situation humorous and a little bit easier to tolerate.

It's back! The return of winter has commenced. There is snow falling all about me. I am melting into the coziness of blankets as I hide from the bitter cold, please help! Send sunshine to Illinois, asap! Resurrect the darn groundhog. Plant the daffodils. I long to tiptoe through tulips. My kite needs to fly towards the sky. I miss my Easter baskets and bright colored eggs. Grass colored bright green and cheerful instead of doggy painted yellowness and mudded slush, I miss terribly. Bring home the cooing of the sweet robin vacationing in the balmy winds of Florida. Someone, please send a search party for that lost friend of mine, SPRING!

Winter casts its grip causing me to slip. This dreary ice is not at all nice. People thought I was a nut when I fell on my butt. But I lost all traction and down I came crashin. Go away winter I'm cold and sore, my poor little body can't take anymore. On my tushy you've left a bruise when I took that slippery cruise. My skin is flaking and dry making me want to cry. My nose, it runs like a faucet with this friggin cold the cause of it. Go away winter you're making me sad and bitter.
